HOW TRAINING RUNS
Our Virtual Delivery programme is designed to provide a highly engaging and interactive learning experience for professionals who prefer to study remotely while benefiting from live instruction by experienced NEBOSH Diploma tutors. Using a secure online learning platform, delegates can attend scheduled classes from anywhere in the world without compromising the quality of learning.
Each virtual session is carefully structured to encourage participation through tutor-led presentations, interactive discussions, breakout activities, workplace case studies, and collaborative problem-solving exercises. Delegates are encouraged to actively contribute their own workplace experiences, allowing them to relate theoretical concepts directly to real-life occupational health and safety challenges.
The Full-Time Block Release programme is designed for delegates seeking an intensive classroom-based learning experience. The programme is delivered in structured study blocks, allowing learners to immerse themselves in each Diploma unit while receiving direct guidance from experienced tutors.
Prior to attending each classroom block, delegates complete directed pre-course study designed to establish a strong understanding of key concepts before classroom discussions begin. This approach maximises valuable classroom time and enables tutors to focus on deeper analysis, practical application, and problem-solving activities.
Each training block combines tutor-led instruction with interactive workshops, workplace simulations, group discussions, and detailed analysis of international occupational health and safety case studies. Emphasis is placed on developing the critical thinking and practical competence required of senior health and safety professionals.
Phitagoras E-Learning has been developed to provide maximum flexibility for professionals who wish to study at their own pace without sacrificing the quality of tutor support or learning resources. This delivery method is particularly suitable for busy professionals, international delegates, and learners balancing work, family, and professional development commitments.
The programme provides 24/7 access to the Phitagoras Learning Management System (LMS), enabling learners to study whenever and wherever it is most convenient. Our programmes are designed to develop not only technical knowledge but also the strategic leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills expected of occupational health and safety professionals operating at senior management level.
Throughout the programme, delegates are encouraged to apply theoretical knowledge to real workplace situations through practical activities, case studies, reflective learning, and assignment-based assessments. It is NEBOSH policy that all delegates should be given access to a fair and equal assessment. The NEBOSH “Policy and procedures for access arrangements, reasonable adjustments and special consideration” ensures that no candidate is placed at an unfair disadvantage, or advantage, over other delegates. In so doing, NEBOSH aims to comply with legislation intended to prevent unfair discrimination and the criteria laid down by the regulatory authorities.
Below are examples of arrangements available;
-
- Access arrangements allow delegates with special educational needs, disabilities, and temporary injuries to access the assessment. Phitagoras will assess your requirements to aid your learning experience.
- Reasonable adjustments can be made where a candidate, who is disabled within the meaning of the Equality Act 2010, would be at a substantial disadvantage in comparison to someone who is not disabled. Phitagoras is required to take reasonable steps to overcome that disadvantage.
- Special consideration can be applied for delegates who are present for the assessment but may have been disadvantaged by temporary illness, bereavement, injury, or adverse circumstances that arose at or near the time of assessment.
If you would like to apply for any of the above arrangements, please write to us to discuss your requirements. Phitagoras will then complete your application on your behalf.
Confirmation of your request will be sent to you from NEBOSH before your assessment. In the event that any granted adjustments do not meet your requirements, please contact us immediately to allow your application to be reviewed.
If you do not achieve a ‘Pass’, you may re-sit the unit(s) in which you have been unsuccessful providing that this happens within the 5-year enrolement period. However, each re-sit will incur an additional fee. You may also re-sit successful unit(s) to try to improve the qualification grade. When all three units have been successfully completed, you will need to inform NEBOSH of your intention to re-sit the successful unit(s) within 20-working days of the results declaration date for the final successful unit. There is no limit to the number of re-sits which can be taken within the enrolment period. If you sit a unit more than once, the highest grade achieved will count towards the final qualification grading. If you register for any unit of the International Diploma whilst awaiting a result from a previous assessment, you cannot then request a refund of the registration fee if the awaited result is a ‘Pass’ (except in the case of an Enquiry About Result).
A refund will not be given under the following circumstances

COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
We treat complaints as a statement of dissatisfaction brought by an individual or group. Regular Learner feedback sessions are held that help us to use our resources in the best way possible to meet delegates’ needs.
We recognise that there may be occasions when this information and feedback mechanisms are not sufficient to deal with the complaint. For this reason, we have a formal complaints procedure to ensure that your complaints are dealt with in a timely and professional way.
