The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety is ideal for anyone responsible for managing fire risks in the workplace, including fire safety officers, fire wardens, health and safety practitioners, facilities and building managers, supervisors, team leaders, and individuals involved in implementing or maintaining fire safety arrangements. It is also suitable for employees aspiring to take on fire risk assessment duties or anyone seeking a recognised international qualification in fire safety. No prior fire safety knowledge or previous NEBOSH qualification is required, making the course accessible to both beginners and those with existing experience in fire safety management.
Unit FSC1 is evaluated through a scenario-based Open Book Examination completed remotely. The assessment typically takes around five hours, and candidates are given a 24-hour window to finish and submit their responses to NEBOSH.
Unit FSC2 is assessed through a three-hour practical fire risk assessment carried out in the candidate’s own workplace or another suitable location.
To enrol in the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety course, complete the Course Enrolment form or visit www.phitagoras.co.id to fill out the course registration forms with the required information.
The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety is structured around two key units that combine essential fire safety knowledge with practical risk assessment skills. The first unit focuses on understanding fire safety principles, legal requirements, fire prevention strategies, and effective fire protection measures. The second unit is a practical fire risk assessment, where learners apply what they’ve learned to assess real workplace fire hazards and recommend appropriate controls. To achieve the qualification, delegates must successfully complete both the theory unit and the practical assignment, demonstrating competence in managing fire risks in a wide range of workplace environments.
It is NEBOSH policy that all delegates should be given access to a fair and equal assessment. The NEBOSH “Policy and procedures for access arrangements, reasonable adjustments and special consideration” ensures that no candidate is placed at an unfair disadvantage, or advantage, over other delegates. In so doing, NEBOSH aims to comply with legislation intended to prevent unfair discrimination and the criteria laid down by the regulatory authorities.
Below are examples of arrangements available;
-
- Access arrangements allow delegates with special educational needs, disabilities, and temporary injuries to access the assessment. Phitagoras will assess your requirements to aid your learning experience.
- Reasonable adjustments can be made where a candidate, who is disabled within the meaning of the Equality Act 2010, would be at a substantial disadvantage in comparison to someone who is not disabled. Phitagoras is required to take reasonable steps to overcome that disadvantage.
- Special consideration can be applied for delegates who are present for the assessment but may have been disadvantaged by temporary illness, bereavement, injury, or adverse circumstances that arose at or near the time of assessment.
If you would like to apply for any of the above arrangements, please write to us to discuss your requirements. Phitagoras will then complete your application on your behalf.
Confirmation of your request will be sent to you from NEBOSH before your assessment. In the event that any granted adjustments do not meet your requirements, please contact us immediately to allow your application to be reviewed.
You may re-sit a unit assessment if:
-
- you are ‘Referred’ (ie, don’t pass); and
- all fees are paid
Your revision is a priority to us. There is no limit to the number of times you can re-sit unit(s) within the five-year period.
A refund will not be given under the following circumstances
-
- if you register to sit a unit and do not attend the examination.
- If you resit before the original unit result is known.
- If your resit result is lower than the original mark (you will keep the original mark awarded for the unit)
In the event of illness or any other special considerations, an appeal can be made to NEBOSH. The outcome of your appeal will determine whether exam fees are returned or re-allocated to another scheduled examination.
Interested delegates are assigned to a dedicated course advisor who will be in charge of your learning journey. You will be required to complete the Learning Styles Self-Assessment to enable us to provide you with the ideal course advisor that suits your learning style.
Furthermore, your mobile number will be added to a WhatsApp group to receive additional resources for your study.

COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
We treat complaints as a statement of dissatisfaction brought by an individual or group. We will make every effort to resolve complaints at the earliest possible opportunity, and in the main, this will be on an informal basis. Regular Learner feedback sessions are held that help us to use our resources in the best way possible to meet delegates’ needs.
We recognise that there may be occasions when this information and feedback mechanisms are not sufficient to deal with the complaint. For this reason, we have a formal complaints procedure to ensure that your complaints are dealt with in a timely and professional way.
There are usually three stages to the Learner Complaints Procedure. Unless there is good reason for doing so, a student may not progress their complaint to a higher stage unless all lower stages have been completed. They are Informal, Formal and Appeal process.
-
- The complaints procedure aims to:
- Be easily accessible.
- Resolve complaints at the right level.
- Allow for timely handling, with established time frames for action.
- Ensure a full and fair investigation.
- Respect complainants’ desire for confidentiality wherever possible.
- Provide an appropriate response.
